The renovation by North Tyneside Council and English Partnership took 16 weeks to complete and has transformed the site, which had fallen in disrepair. The project was designed by North Tyneside Council's Engineering Design Agency, which is part of the Transport and Engineering Function that supervised the work. Edmund Nuttall LTD being the contractors. Funding of £200,000 pounds was provided by English Partnerships. Work included demolishing the changing rooms and filling the swimming pool with concrete laden with local rocks. The rock pool is refreshed by tidal water via a weir. The anticipate marine life never flourished and the pool remains an eyesore to this day.
